TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he is preparing for a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and his team.
"We are preparing for a meeting with the President of the United States and his team. I thank America. I thank everyone who stands with Ukraine – with our people and our efforts to protect life," Zelenskyy said in a video address delivered Friday evening, as quoted by ANTARA.
Zelenskyy emphasized that strengthening air defense systems remains a top priority that partner countries can support.
According to him, every agreement regarding this assistance must be realized immediately. He also asked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all Ukrainian diplomats to work faster.
In addition, Zelenskyy believes Ukraine's needs must be more widely voiced to the international community because they relate to protecting civilian lives.
"And it is important that more and more is becoming known in our key partner countries about what is really happening in Ukraine, about Russia’s attacks against our people, and about Russia’s efforts to prolong this war," he said.
Zelenskyy also claimed Russia had prepared missiles to launch a new major attack on Ukraine.
Citing intelligence information from Ukraine and partner countries, he said the attack was likely to occur within the next 48 hours.
"The strike may take place today – we have preliminary information that it could happen within the next 48 hours," Zelenskyy said.
