The Indonesian weightlifting team brought home three gold medals and four silver medals from the 2025 Asian Youth and Junior Weightlifting Championship at the Qazaqstan Arena, Astana, Kazakhstan, which took place from July 4.
In this event, six young lifters participated, namely Alyamaulida Kartika Pertiwi, Sarah, Absyah Ramadhani Nasution, Muhammad Nazriel Setyawan, Kevin Andrian Ramadhan, and Raihan Adesta Putra Perdana. They competed against 450 athletes from 27 countries.
Three out of the six Indonesian representatives who competed successfully secured medals. Alyamaulida, who competed in the 77-kilogram women's category, won three gold medals for the snatch with 93 kilograms, clean and jerk 116 kilograms, and a total of 209 kilograms.
2. UN Warns Israel's Gaza Relocation Plan Could Be Forced Displacement
The UN human rights office on Tuesday expressed serious concern over Israel's proposal to collaborate with other countries, including the United States, on the so-called "voluntary" transfer of Palestinians out of Gaza.
The UN cautioned that such a plan could constitute forced transfer under international law. "This raises concerns with regard to forcible transfer," spokeswoman Ravina Shamdasani told reporters at a UN press briefing in Geneva, as reported by Anadolu.
"The concept of voluntary transfers in the context that we're seeing in Gaza right now -- it's very questionable," Shamdasani said.
3. Prabowo Optimistic Indonesia Can Achieve 100 Percent Renewable Energy in the Next 10 Years
President Prabowo Subianto is optimistic that Indonesia can achieve 100 percent renewable energy in the next 10 years. He is also confident that 100 percent renewable energy can be achieved sooner than the initial projection of 2040.
This was conveyed by Prabowo in a joint statement with Brazilian President Luiz Incio Lula da Silva on Wednesday, July 9, 2025, at Planalto Palace, Brasilia. "The target is, of course, 2040, but my experts say that we can achieve it much sooner," he said, as quoted from the official statement.
During the meeting, the Head of State emphasized his commitment to accelerate cooperation between Indonesia and Brazil, especially in the agricultural sector, clean energy, and defense. According to Prabowo, Brazil sets a good example in the use of biofuels and innovation in the agricultural sector, so he wants to learn from them.
