TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tempo's YouTube account went dark on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, at around 7 a.m. local time. Upon tracing and checking, Tempo's team suspected the editorial e-mail had been hacked, where other individuals or parties have now gained control of the account.
Bagja Hidayat, Tempo's deputy editor-in-chief, explained how the Tempo YouTube channel disappeared. Tempo's social media team detected suspicious activities on December 9, with two planned live broadcasts on bitcoin-related topics at 11:30 a.m.
"There has never been a plan for that event," Bagja said on December 10, 2025.
The Tempo social media team then deleted the planned broadcasts. The next day, at 06.30 a.m., Tempo's YouTube account disappeared. The team reported the missing account to YouTube half an hour later.
The scheduled live broadcast was titled "LIVE: Trump Announces Important News About Crypto! This Speech Will Change the Crypto Industry on the UNFRAME IT channel."
UNFRAME IT is a new channel on Tempodotco. It is a "homeless media" account managed by Tempo's social media team.
Meanwhile, on the YouTube search column, the only remaining Tempo account is the Tempo TV Channel, which republishes short videos from the main Tempodotco account.
Bagja explained that the Tempo team has contacted YouTube and reported the chronology of the disappearance of the Tempodotco account. The Tempo team made sure there were no violations before this account vanished.
Since the main account disappeared, all broadcasts are also inaccessible. The last broadcast on the Bocor Alus Politik channel was a report on Tempo Magazine's cover story on Sumatra floods entitled "Biang Kerok Banjir Sumatera" (The Culprit Behind Sumatra Floods).
Bagja said YouTube has not been able to confirm the cause of the Tempodotco channel's disappearance. A preliminary investigation suggests it could be a hacking through one of Tempo's channel emails. The social media team is working to restore the hijacking and report it to YouTube.
YouTube has not provided an official response to the disappearance of the Tempodotco YouTube account. They have requested a list of questions on this topic.
