TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Muhammad Riza Chalid, the suspect in the corruption of the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina, evaded the investigators' summons. Anang Supriatna, the Head of the Legal Information Center of the Attorney General's Office, stated that Riza did not provide a reason for his absence in today's examination as a suspect, on Friday, July 25, 2025.
"The person concerned was summoned for the first time yesterday, but he did not attend and did not provide any confirmation," said Anang on Friday, July 25, 2025.
Anang said that previously, the investigators had sent the summons letter to Riza Chalid's residence at Jalan Jenggala 2, Kebayoran Baru, Jakarta.
Riza Chalid is one of the 18 suspects in the corruption case involving the management of crude oil and refinery products at PT Pertamina, which is being investigated by the Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) of the AGO. Out of the total of 18 suspects, only Riza has not been detained because he was abroad when the investigators named him as a suspect on July 10, 2025.
The Acting Director General of Immigration, Yuldi Yusman, stated that Riza had departed Indonesia on February 6, 2025. He left from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Tangerang and traveled to Malaysia. He has not been recorded as returning to Indonesia.
Riza's departure to Malaysia was only 18 days after the investigators from the AGO arrested his son, Muhammad Kerry Adrianto Riza, on February 24, 2025. Kerry is the owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak. This company serves as the storage facility for imported fuel and the blending process by Pertamina, which is claimed to be conducted unlawfully. Meanwhile, according to the investigators, Riza is the beneficial owner of PT Orbit Terminal Merak.
According to the prosecutors, Riza and Kerry, along with the Marketing Director and Commercial Director of PT Pertamina, Hanung Budya Yuktyanta, the Vice President of Supply Distribution of PT Pertamina, Alfian Nasution, and the Commissioner of PT Jenggala Maritim and the CEO of PT Orbit Terminal Merak, Gading Ramadhan Joedo, colluded to change the content of the work contract between PT Orbit and Pertamina. According to the contract signed in 2014, after 10 years, PT Orbit was expected to be owned by Pertamina.
In reality, until this case was investigated, the company was still controlled by Riza Chalid and Kerry. The collaboration is also said to be intervention-laden because Pertamina is considered not to require additional fuel stock storage. Riza is also said to be involved in setting the highest contract price.
