TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Prabowo Subianto has invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to make a state visit to Indonesia. The head of state extended the invitation during their meeting at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
During the meeting, President Prabowo expressed appreciation for the warm reception from the Russian government amidst President Putin's busy state schedule. "Thank you for welcoming me. I understand President Putin's schedule is very busy," he said during his opening remarks, as quoted by the Presidential Secretariat on Wednesday, December 10th, 2025.
Prabowo mentioned that in recent months, several delegations from the Russian government and private sector have visited Jakarta. Indonesia, he added, has facilitated meetings between industry players and state companies with Russian partners to expedite the realization of various strategic collaborations.
"I have facilitated and bridged [Russia] with our industry players, our corporations, and there seem to be many positive follow-ups," said Prabowo.
During the occasion, President Prabowo also extended a formal invitation for a state visit to Indonesia for President Putin
"I also want to invite Your Excellency to Indonesia whenever you have the opportunity. Whether it's in 2026 or 2027, it doesn't matter," he said.
"We hope he will come visit Indonesia as well, Don't just stop by India," Prabowo added with a light-hearted laugh.
President Putin responded positively to the invitation, promising to visit. "Thank you, I will come," said Putin.
