TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who is currently visiting Moscow, on Wednesday, December 10, 2025. According to the Russian media outlet TASS, the discussions between the two leaders will focus on developing the strategic partnership between the two nations, alongside current international and regional issues.
Kremlin aide Yury Ushakov confirmed that the Indonesian leader's visit is a working visit arranged specifically to accommodate President Putin’s schedule. Ushakov noted that the meeting reflects "the deepening cooperation between the two countries."
Prabowo last made an official visit to Russia in June 2025, where Putin received him in St. Petersburg. The two presidents also attended the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) during that trip.
The previous visit saw Russia and Indonesia sign a declaration of bilateral strategic partnership, establishing a similar relationship to those Moscow holds with Beijing, Pyongyang, and Tehran. Furthermore, Putin has previously expressed Russia's readiness to participate in offshore projects in Indonesia and expand hydrocarbon supplies to Jakarta.
A few days before his trip to Moscow, President Prabowo visited Pakistan, holding a bilateral meeting with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif in Islamabad on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. Following that meeting, Prabowo announced that Pakistan had agreed to dispatch medical professionals to Indonesia.
Prabowo explained that Indonesia faces a crucial need for medical personnel, stating: "We really need doctors and dentists." This was reported via Shehbaz Sharif's official YouTube account.
The President further noted that Pakistan also offered to send professors and health experts to support Indonesia. Prabowo indicated that his administration is initiating a large-scale health education program in Indonesia, stating, "Your assistance will be very strategic and crucial for us. We really appreciate it."
