TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Metropolitan Police will involve a forensic psychologist in the investigation of the death of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' diplomat, Arya Daru Pangayunan. The young diplomat was found dead in his rented room with his head covered in duct tape and his body wrapped in a blanket.
"The next stage is (involving a forensic psychologist). It will be done later," said the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Ade Ary Syam Indradi, at his office in South Jakarta on Friday, July 11, 2025.
The involvement of a forensic psychologist in this investigation is to delve into the profile of Arya Daru. The police will explore his daily life, his activities, and how he was eventually found dead at the crime scene (TKP).
The police have interviewed the closest circle of Arya Daru, including family members. "Communication has also been conducted with the related parties who were in the victim's circle," he said.
Ade Ary stated that the police currently do not want to speculate on the cause of the diplomat's death. According to him, the cause of death must be scientifically examined. "We do not speculate; the process towards uncovering this event is still ongoing," he said.
The police carried out another crime scene investigation at the rented house where Arya Daru's body was found on Friday morning, July 11, 2025. The Mobile Detective Sub-directorate of the General Crimes Detective Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police conducted the crime scene investigation.
This is the third crime scene investigation observed by the media since Daru's body was found around 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. His body was found in room number 105 at Guest House Gondia, Gondangdia, Menteng, Central Jakarta.
The investigators from the Jakarta Metropolitan Police conducted this crime scene investigation along with the police medical team, the Center for Forensic Laboratory (Puslabfor), and the Indonesian Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) of the Criminal Investigation Department (Bareskrim) of the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
Doctors from Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), Central Jakarta, also attended. "Our colleagues from the medical team also attended. Doctors from RSCM carried out the autopsy process on the body," said Ade Ary.
Ade Ary stated that the investigative team is currently awaiting the autopsy results conducted by the doctors. In addition, the police are also waiting for the results of the examination of the body's organs conducted in the laboratory. "Also, the process of pathological examination is still ongoing at the moment," he said.
