TEMPO.CO, JakartaLegendary British rock star Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 on Tuesday, July 22, 2025, as reported by People.

In an official statement in regards to this sorrowful news, his wife Sharon shared “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.”

The family added, “He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”

The Black Sabbath frontman held a farewell concert at the Villa Park Stadium in Birmingham, England just a few weeks prior to his death. Ahead of the live performance, the musician has been struggling with his health for years, from Parkinson’s disease to his addiction relapse.

Ultimately, the deteriorated health issue took a toll on his aging body, leaving bereaved families and mourning fans in deep grief.

Ozzy Ousbourne’s Health History

Over the course of his Parkinson’s diagnosis, the rock icon had to work with a physiotherapist every day. As cited from Today and various sources, beyond this demanding ailment, Ozzy Ousbourne also suffered from a range of physical conditions including:

Parkinson’s Disease

For the past few years, Ozzy Osbourne had always been open about his Parkinson’s disease after his first revelation back in 2020.

In his previous interviews, Ozzy shared that the illness assumed control over his body in 2019. Parkinson’s is a nervous system disorder that affects his body movements. For this, the father of six had to opt using a cane all while struggling with his speech.

While Ozzy once stated, “it’s not a death sentence,” the rockstar braved himself into taking stem cell therapy. He shared during an episode of “Ozzy Speaks”, “I’ve just come back from the doctor after having stem cells put in me… The thing is, you have it, and you go, ‘I don’t feel that great,’ but I don’t know what it would be like if I didn’t have it.”

Drug and Alcohol Addiction

The global superstar has battled drug and alcohol addiction almost his entire life, having entered rehab first in 1984, as per Variety.

The Black Sabbath frontman spoke, “I’ve always been self-medicating because I’ve never liked the way I felt. I’ve had great success in my life, but I’ve never felt great about myself. And so, from a very early age, I used to sniff fumes, all kinds of things, anything to get me out of my head.”

In May 2025, Ozzy shared to the Guardian that he has been sober per se. “I don’t smoke dope or do any of the rock star lifestyle any more… I’m kind of a homebody. I never go out. I never hang out in bars— I don’t drink.”

Multiple Surgeries

Ozzy Osbourne has endured a series of grueling surgeries following a nasty fall in January 2019. The legendary rocker reportedly took a tumble in the middle of the night– face-first, after getting up to use the bathroom.

In a candid interview with Rolling Stone, Ozzy revealed that the impact had dislodged metal rods that were implanted in his body after a near-fatal ATV crash in 2003. To correct the damage and relieve the pain, he ultimately underwent four rounds of complex spinal surgery.

In 2023, Ozzy Osbourne expressed his exasperation to “The Ousbournes Podcast”, “Tomorrow I have my final surgery on my neck. Which it is gonna be the final surgery because I can’t do it anymore. Regardless of the way it ends up after tomorrow, it’s it. I’m not doing it anymore. I can’t.”

In a Coma due to ATV Accident

In December 2003, Ozzy Osbourne's life took a dramatic turn when he was involved in a serious ATV accident that left him with fractures in eight ribs, a vertebra, and his left collarbone. The crash was so severe, it landed the rock legend in a coma for eight harrowing days.
