TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian Women's National Baseball Team has moved up five spots in the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) ranking, perching at rank 11 for the 2025 mid-year, on Thursday, July 24, 2025.
Indonesia gained an additional 160 points thanks to their success at the 2025 Women's Baseball Asia Cup Qualifiers held last April. Indonesia has moved up from 16th to 11th position, sharing the spot with India, both accumulating 269 points.
The Indonesian team has surpassed France, which has dropped three spots to 15.
The five-spot climb and the additional 160 points have made Indonesia the current top climber in the WBSC 2025 women's baseball world rankings, followed by India (4 spots/139 points), Pakistan (3 spots/119 points), Sri Lanka (2 spots/78 points), and Thailand (2 spots/98 points).
The top position is held by Japan, dominating with 1,405 points, followed by the United States (918). The third to sixth rankings are held by Canada (755 points), Venezuela (745 points), Taiwan (744 points), and Mexico (741 points).
Seventh place goes to Puerto Rico with 490 points, eighth is held by Hong Kong with 377 points, and ninth is occupied by Cuba with 350 points. South Korea closes the top 10 world rankings with 313 points.
Last April, the Indonesian Women's National Baseball Team emerged victorious in the 2025 Women's Baseball Asia Cup Qualifiers by defeating the Indian national team 5-4 in the grand final in Bangkok, Thailand. According to the Indonesian Baseball and Softball Association (PB Perbasasi), the Indonesian team is currently preparing for the 2025 Asia Cup championship.
The 2025 Asia Cup is scheduled to take place in China in October. The Indonesian team will face Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, South Korea, the Philippines, India, Pakistan, and Thailand in an effort to maintain their ranking.
