TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - As November comes to a close, Indonesian cinema is buzzing across social media. From heart-tugging dramas and adrenaline-pumping thrillers to absurd yet addictive horror-comedies, a wide range of local films is drawing attention.
If you’re planning a weekend trip to the cinema, here’s a curated list of Indonesian films now showing on the big screen.
Samsara
This fantasy drama stars Ario Bayu and Juliet Widyasari, following the story of Darta, a man from a modest family whose romance collapses under social-class differences. Desperate, he turns to a forbidden ritual in pursuit of wealth, unaware that his choice will drag his wife and child into a tragic fate.
Drawing inspiration from Indonesian mysticism, Samsara explores ambition, human limits, and the dangers of chasing a life that may never be worth the price.
Sampai Titik Terakhirmu
Prepare your tissues. Starring Arbani Yasiz and Mawar de Jongh, this romantic drama begins sweetly but quickly deepens into an emotional journey. Their characters fall in love, supported by both families, and build what seems like a perfect relationship—until Shella is diagnosed with cancer.
Despite the heartbreak, the couple stays together through every stage, proving that their love is more than fleeting affection; it is a bond that endures until the quietest, most painful moments.
Keadilan
Featuring Rio Dewanto and Reza Rahadian and directed by South Korean filmmaker Lee Chang-hee, Keadilan examines the fragility of a justice system where the wealthy can bend the rules. The story follows Raka, a court security officer frustrated by the corruption he witnesses daily.
His world collapses when his pregnant wife, a lawyer, becomes a victim of violence at the hands of a powerful official’s son. Disillusioned by a system easily swayed by money and online outrage, Raka decides to take matters into his own hands—delivering “justice” with a gun in hand.
Dopamin
Angga Yunanda and Shenina Cinnamon team up in this thriller drama as Malik and Alya, a couple facing emotional and financial instability. Their lives spiral when a stranger staying in their home is found dead the next morning, leaving behind a suitcase filled with billions of rupiah.
In an instant, Malik and Alya are thrust into a web of choices, pressure, and danger. What begins as a tempting shortcut soon turns into a series of dilemmas far beyond their control.
Pangku
Released on November 6, 2025, this award-winning film directed by Reza Rahadian earned four Citra Awards at FFI 2025. Starring Fedi Nuril, Claresta Taufan, and Christine Hakim, Pangku explores the coffee-shop traditions of Indonesia’s northern coast.
The story centers on Sartika, a pregnant woman seeking a fresh start. She is taken in by Maya, a coffee shop owner in the Pantura region, who cares for her through childbirth.
As Sartika begins helping around the shop, she finds new hope, especially after meeting Hadi, a warm-hearted truck driver. The film offers a tender, realistic portrait of women, resilience, and the search for belonging.
Belum Ada Judul
This drama follows Umar Bakri (played by Bucek), a beloved teacher and single father to Magda, a strong-spirited teenager living with polio. Their quiet life unravels when a video of Umar slapping a wealthy student goes viral, sparking public outrage.
Behind his calm exterior, Umar is hiding a truth he protects for the sake of his students. The film paints a poignant picture of integrity, sacrifice, and the moral burdens teachers often carry.
Pesugihan Sate Gagak
This horror-comedy stars Ardit Erwandha, Yono Bakrie, Benedictus Siregar, and Yoriko Angeline. The film follows three friends struggling with financial problems who resort to a supernatural ritual involving crow satay from an ancient spell book.
To their surprise, the humble food stall suddenly draws customers from the supernatural realm, including genderuwo, pocong, and kuntilanak, all eager to pay generously.
The sudden wealth initially feels like a blessing, but the hauntings grow worse, and the friends soon realize that their shortcut to success comes with terrifying consequences.
