TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The organizer of the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, or THASOC, has decided to relocate the competition venues for 11 sports branches from Songkhla to Bangkok and Chonburi due to the floods. The eleven sports include Muay Thai, men's football, chess, kabaddi, wushu, pencak silat, judo, petanque, karate, wrestling, and billiards.

Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian delegation for the 2025 SEA Games, Bayu Priawan Djokosoetono, hopes the athletes' comfort will still be guaranteed despite the venue changes. "Hopefully, the relocation will further ensure the quality of the competition and the comfort for all athletes from participating countries," said Bayu in Jakarta on Friday, November 28, 2025.

THASOC emphasized that the relocation was intended for the safety aspect and to ensure the success and quality of the organization of the largest multi-sport event in the Southeast Asian region.

Regarding the organizer's decision, Bayu said that the Indonesian Team fully supports the move because athlete safety remains the top priority when competing in a safer and ready-to-use venue. He added that they will immediately adjust all technical preparation plans with the respective sports branches, including venue surveys and contingent strategy adjustments.

He explained that the Indonesian Olympic Committee (KOI) also continues to intensively coordinate with the organizers, the ASEAN Sports Federation, and all stakeholders of the national sports to ensure the Red and White contingent can still perform optimally at the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand, scheduled to take place on December 9-20.

The sports branches participating in this year's SEA Games in Thailand are currently finalizing preparations for the Southeast Asian sports festivities.
